Walter Allen Karau, CD was born April 4, 1938 to Adolf and Clara Karau in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan, and passed on June 9, 2024 in Calgary, AB at the age of 86 years. Walter proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces. During his posting in Mont Apica, PQ he met his wife of 63 years, Marthe. Wally was an active volunteer with Knights of Columbus, Yellowhead Flyway Birding Trail Association, Churchbridge Communities in Bloom, National Association of Federal Retirees (FSNA) and the Churchbridge Campground. Wally is survived by his wife Marthe; children Daniel (Joyce) and Christine (Ken Weese); five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sisters Adela Swanson, Caroline Karau, Violet Karau, Elaine Bliss; brother Doug; and sister in-law Shirley. He is predeceased by his parents; two siblings; brother Fred; brother in-law Carl Swanson and sister in-law Frieda.
The family extends their sincere thank you to all staff at Foothills Medical Centre, AgeCare SkyPointe, Calgary, and Peter Carscadden Funeral Service, Esterhazy, SK for their care of Walter.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at The Churchbridge Town Cemetery in Churchbridge, SK.
