Sue Arnason Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Sue Ann (nee Baumung) Arnason announce her unexpected passing on Tuesday August 20, 2024 at the Regina General Hospital.  She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Sue was born to Jacob and Elna (Mitschke) Baumung in Langenburg Saskatchewan, July 21, 1956.  She grew up in a close-knit family with three older siblings. She was baptized and later confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church.  Sue attended school in Langenburg and lasting friendships were made during those fun-filled years.  She graduated from Langenburg High School in 1974.

In the summer of 1972, Sue met the love of her life George (Geordie) Arnason from Tantallon.  They were married on December 14,1974.  Sue and Geordie lived on the Arnason family farm in the Tantallon District and welcomed two children over the next nine years.  The twenty years they were together were spent mixed farming and raising their family until Geordie’s tragic passing on November 10, 1994.

Although Sue faced long term health challenges throughout her adult life, her continued positive outlook was inspiring to those around her.  She enjoyed researching and documenting family ancestry.  She looked forward to family gatherings and the sharing of memories

Sue was a proud mother and loved without reserve.  She looked forward to the visits from her grandchildren and joyfully welcomed her first great grandchild.  Her legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.  She will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son Jay (Blenda) Arnason, daughter Amy Arnason, grandchildren Jayde (Alyson) Howie, Jayke and Jaya Arnason, great granddaughter Wrenlee Howie; siblings Judith Turko (Bruno Cybertowicz), James (Valerie) Jeske, Pamela (Carmen) Einarson, as well as, her nephews and nieces, numerous cousins, sisters-in-law Sandra and Jill Arnason, and many friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Geordie, parents Jacob and Elna, brother-in-law Terry Turko, In-laws Gustav and Kay Arnason and brother- in-law John (Jack) Arnason.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Sue’s dearest and closest friend, Jo-Ann Felling, for being by her side throughout life and in her final moments.

They would also like to acknowledge the care provided by the medical staff at both the Regina General Hospital and the Southeast Integrated Care Centre in Moosomin.
