Shelly was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was the youngest daughter of Eugene (Pete) and Aurora (Babe) Levesque. Her early years were spent in Ear Falls, Ontario.
She married Gerard Kristoff on January 25, 1972 and they began a wonderful, happy life together. They spent the first part of their marriage in South Bay, Ontario and later settled in Esterhazy in 1973. On November 6, 1975 their family expanded with the arrival of their first daughter Trina and added to it on September 17, 1981 with the arrival of their second daughter Tamara. Their family was the most important thing to Shelly, and she devoted her time to making sure they were happy and loved. There was no expense spared when it came to birthdays and holidays. Hours were spent making homemade Halloween costumes and beautiful cake and chocolates for every occasion. Summers were spent travelling and visiting extended family. She was always so excited to go “home” out east but loved when family would stop in so she could entertain.
Shelly was a valued member of the community and created many friendships through her work at Home Hardware and Len’s IGA.
Shelly’s most cherished role in life was being a Grandma. Her early retirement allowed her to spend extra valuable time with Boston, Mason and Paisley. They were her world! Gerard and Shelly passed on their love of boating and camping to their children and now their grandchildren. Quadding was also a favourite past time of everyone’s.
Shelly could often be found in the kitchen perfecting many of the tough Hungarian recipes … and she nailed them!
Shelly had a heart of gold and was a true, steady friend, full of love and compassion.
She was predeceased by her parents Eugene and Aurora Levesque; her parents-in-law John and Bertha Kristoff; her brother Levy Levesque; brother-in-law Jerry Larocque; and infant niece Kenzie Palaniuk.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Gerard, daughter Trina (Nathan) Beck, daughter Tamara (Neil) Niebergall, and cherished grandchildren Paisley Beck, Boston and Mason Niebergall. She is also survived by her sisters Bonnie Larocque, Darlene (Jim) Simoneau, Paulette (Wayne) Culbert, and brother Miles (Gail) Levesque; as well as sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Yvonne (Tom) Dick, Germaine Bru, Laura (Harvey) Cymbalisty, Adrian (Yvonne) Kristoff, Rolandza Palaniuk, and Tim (Suzanne) Kristoff. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews, cousins, godchildren and many special friends.
