Ronald Scantlebury Obituary

Ronald “Ron” George Scantlebury born on February 10, 1942, peacefully passed away on October 16, 2023.

Ron was born on the farm north of Esterhazy where he farmed for most of his life.  He started his career as a schoolteacher then became a millwright travelling around from job to job. While he was working in Allan, Saskatchewan, he met Janet Woytas and they married in 1969. He took on her two young children Darrell and Diane, a handful for sure. He worked as Millwright for over 29 years at IMC/Mosaic potash, but farming was his greatest passion.  He retired from mining when he was 61 but continued to farm until he moved to town and sold the farm. Ron joined a bowling league when he moved to town and was always trying to improve his score. He had a dry sense of humour and enjoyed bantering back and forth and never missed a chance to tease.   He enjoyed going to senior hockey games and watching his grandsons play Hockey. Ron liked watching any and all sports on tv and going out for meals with friends. Ron especially enjoyed visits from his sister Jean and her children Brent and Pamela.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Marion, and wife Janet, siblings Eldon and Jack.

Ron will be deeply missed by his son Darrell (Shelley), daughter Diane, and grandchildren Lesley (Chris), Riley (Denae), Scott (Ariana), Kristopher (Kayla), and Dustin (Alex).  He is also survived by his sister Jean, nephew Brent, niece Pamela and eight great-grandchildren and a great-niece and great-nephew. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all of those who knew and loved him.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
