Ron was born November 16, 1963 in Whitewood, Sk to John and Annie Ondik (nee Tochor). He passed away March 15, 2018 in Regina General after struggling with multiple health issues.
He grew up on the family farm in Grove Park with his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. He left school in Grade 9 to work on the farm full time and later left for Saskatoon to work construction during the winter months, always returning in the spring.
He met Margaret Sundquist in the summer of ’68, and they were married October 3rd, 1970. Their 1st daughter, Tracy, was born in 1972, and they were blessed again with their 2nd daughter, Nancy, in 1974. Both the girls married, and he had two grandchildren, Paden and Jada.
Ron drove for Kleysen’s Transport from 1968-1973. During this time, he and Margaret moved out of the valley to the farm where they still live. They had cattle, expanded the grain operation and raised their children. Ron was Division 1 councillor for the RM of Fertile Belt from 1987 to 1992. He worked as a shift mechanic at IMC up until his retirement in 2008.
Ron enjoyed working in his shop, building & welding. He took great pride in restoring a tractor from the farm in Grove Park. He was most creative with a box of rods and a torch in hand. He enjoyed listening to music, dancing, hunting, fishing, and a bit of skidooing. He loved road trips and travelling... any chance to head west or south to visit family and friends. His most memorable trip was going to Europe to meet family there.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Annie Ondik, his brothers John, Edward and infant twin Raymond, his sister Irene and her husband Herb Aho as well as his son-in-law Brian. He leaves behind his wife Margaret, his daughters Tracy and Nancy (Kelly), his grandchildren Paden and Jada; many nieces and nephews, as well as extended family.
Ron will be missed by many, thank you for coming to help celebrate his life.
