Ronald went to sleep peacefully the evening of March 24, 2018 with his family at his side. Left to cherish his memories are son Dale (Gail), daughter Sandra (Clayton), grandchildren Aaron (Shannon), Amy (Calynn) and great grandchildren Gabrielle (Nathan), Benjamin, Ellie (Elizabeth) and great great grandson, Gavin.
Ron is survived by his brother Albert (Lillian), sisters Alma and Vera (Karl), in-laws; Hertha, Helen, Dennis, Marjorie, Linda, Bob, Marlene, Donald and Judy and very special lifelong friends Lynn and Kelvin Caughlin and family, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Ron was predeceased by his wife, Hilda, parents, Emil and Ursula, brother Eric (Betty), sisters Emelia (Hugo), Martha (Bill), Hilda (Mervyn), Marie (Henry), Freida (Harold) and mother-in-law and father in-law, Olga and Albert, and brother-in-laws, Joe, Robert, Walter, Ernie and special friend Rose Knourek.
Ron was born in Poland in 1924 and the family immigrated to Canada in1927. They settled on a farm around Wapella where Ron grew up, farmed and was in the reserves during World War II. Ron fell in love with Hilda Steinke and they were married June 25, 1952. In September 1955 they were blessed with their son, Dale and in June 1957 with daughter, Sandra. Ron and Hilda bought land in the Wapella area where Ron was especially proud of their farm. Due to Hilda’s allergies in 1965 they sold the farm and moved to Esterhazy where Ron worked at IMC until his retirement.
The family went on many holidays across Canada and US. Several holiday trips included Grandma and Grandpa Klinger. One memorable trip was taking the grandparents to see grandma’s sister in Pennsylvania where grandma saw her sister for the first time since they immigrated 52 years earlier. Ron and Hilda remained a vibrant part of their community and enjoyed time with family and friends golfing, dancing, playing cards and bingo.
A few years after Hilda passed Ron met Rose Knourek. They had many happy times together, playing cards, going to dances and out for supper.
Ron eventually moved to the Langenburg Carehome where he made new friends and was content and happy. He was especially happy getting his new wheelchair last fall as he could get around on his own to visit.
Ron was a dear husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. Rich in friends, a man much loved by his family and will be greatly missed by many. We will cherish all of Ron’s stories and remember his smile forever.
