Rodney Joseph Thomson, aged 70 years, passed away on March 3, 2026, in Whitewood, Saskatchewan. Rodney was born on June 21, 1955, in Cornwall, Ontario. He was the second youngest in a large family of ten children.
Rodney was known as a hard worker throughout his life. From a young age, he began working in the moving business alongside his father, learning the value of dedication, perseverance, and providing for his family. Those who knew Rodney knew him as someone who was never afraid of hard work.
Rodney worked for and eventually became an owner operator for many years with Two Small Men Moving, where he met many people who would become lifelong friends. Most recently, he worked at the Co-op in Whitewood, where he continued to connect with and be appreciated by the community.
Rodney will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Christopher (Melanie) and Shaun (Stephanie), and his cherished grandchildren Finley, Maisie, Slater, Sloan, and Sawyer. He is also survived by his sisters Patricia, Donna, and Deborah, and his brother Barry. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory, including his nephew and best friend, Michael Mills with whom he shared a deep bond with.
Rodney was predeceased by his parents, Newton and Elaine Thomson; his sister, Isobel; and his brothers, Gary, Ronald, Donald, and Dwight.
He was a man of wisdom and thoughtful words, someone whose advice and perspective were valued by those around him. Rod lived a life full of many experiences and travels, embracing opportunities and adventures along the way. He loved camping and spending time outdoors. He was a devoted sports fan who proudly cheered for the Buffalo Bills, the Montreal Canadiens, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Rodney also loved listening to The Tragically Hip, music that brought him comfort and joy over the years.
Rodney will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him.
