Rodney Gordon Lomenda

After a brief illness, at the age of 83, Rodney’s loving family said goodbye at the General Hospital in Regina, SK.

Rodney Gordon Lomenda was born August 19,1940 on the family farm near Stockholm. He was the second born to Edward & Ella (Dolejsi) Lomenda. He attended Swea school until grade 8, when he quit to help on the family farm. When he was 22, he went to work on the Gerry & Mary Norek farm in the Gerald District. In 1967, he was hired at the potash mine which led to 34 years with IMC.

June 29,1968, he married Jeannette Knezacek of Esterhazy. They were blessed with 3 children, Dean, Derek, and Holly. The family lived in the trailer court in Esterhazy until 1979 when they purchased the farm from Jeannette’s Aunt & Uncle Rosie & Adolph Pangracs in the Kolin District. Rodney continued to work at the mine and grain farm. He retired from IMC in 2001 and retired from farming in 2022.

Rodney was predeceased by his by his father Edward, mother Ella, sister Mae Kaczur, his brothers Richard & Douglas, father-in-law William Knezacek, mother-in-law Caroline Knezacek, Brother-in-laws Larry Walker, Lloyd Banga, Larry Bartok, Dennis Knezacek

He is survived by his loving wife & soulmate Jeannette of 56 years. Their children Dean (Brenda), Derek (Mel), Holly (Glen) 8 Grandchildren Brett & Journee Lomenda, Ethan, Emily, Mallory Lomenda, Owen, Lucas, Elena Chubey. 1 great granddaughter Valeria Lomenda. Brothers Robert (Gloria), Charles (Virginia), Edward (Mary), Jack (Lois), sisters Judy (Ron) Nicholauson, Valerie (Bob) Funston, Lois (Wayne) Selin. Sister-in-laws Laura Lomenda & Pat Lomenda. Brother-in law Roy (Laurette) Knezacek, sisters-in-law: Doris (Bob) Rue, Dianne Bartok & Maureen Knezacek, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
