Robert (Bobby) James Tanner was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan on December 14, 1953. He was the youngest born to Riel and Rose Tanner.
Robert (Bobby) grew up in Hazelcliffe, Saskatchewan. He had chickenpox as an infant and had a high fever that ended up causing him to be impaired mentally. He was moved to Moose Jaw at the age of 14 to the Valley View Center where he lived until the Center closed when he was moved to a private home in September of 2019.
Bobby liked car rides, KFC, his cheezies and pop. We enjoyed picnics that he had with family usually once a year at the center. He liked his walks with his nieces Georgina and Harlene, more of dragging us around the center and taking us back to his cottage (Robin). He didn’t like staying out a lot, once he was done eating he wanted to go back to his cottage. His favorite color was blue and he loved other people’s shoes.
Although Bobby did not grow up with the family, he was thought of all the time.
He was predeceased by his parents, Riel and Rose Tanner, his brother Joseph Tanner of Brandon, MB, his sister Edith Angell of Esterhazy, SK, a sister and brother in infancy.
He is survived by his sister Elizabeth (Harley) Swain of Yorkton, SK, his sister Irene Gilmer of Yorkton, SK and numerous nieces and nephews, his family from Eden Home in Moose Jaw and his caregivers, Jordan and Corby, his trustee, Fran and his Social Worker Caroline, and all his Valley View family, that took care of him for 50 plus years.
Any donations can be made to the Eden Home in Moose Jaw or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
