Norman Lawrence Litzenberger was born to Matthew & Elisabeth Litzenberger (nee Schmidt) on May 31, 1935. He was the second oldest of a large family consisting of nine.
Norman attended school until Grade 8. (said three years of grade 5 was the best grade of his life). School took a back seat to his love for farming which he never left behind.
On September 19, 1958, Norman married his love Katherine Litzenberger (nee Nahachewski). They purchased land, farmed and raised four children; Darlene, Florence, Sylvia and Lawrence.
They continued to farm until 1999, when they sold their farm and moved to Esterhazy.
Norman also had many jobs while farming. He worked construction at the Esterhazy Potash Mine, then known as IMC. He also did a stint doing truck deliveries. His favorite job was bartending where he liked to “B.S.” with whoever had the time.
Upon “permanent retirement” his second love of fishing consumed his time. The fish stories were numerous, and we believed the word “limit” did not exist in his vocabulary. Especially when he got caught cheating at cards or telling his stories. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory and is survived by, his wife of nearly 60 years Kathy; his children Darlene (Dayle) Nielsen of Esterhazy, Florence (Tom) Stachura of Yorkton, Sylvia (Darcy) Matisho of Yorkton, and Lawrence (Geri) Litzenberger of Esterhazy; as well as 16 grandchildren and 18 great grand-children. He is also survived by his brothers Wilfred, Rudy, Fred and Irwin; sisters Bernice and Betty as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Norman was predeceased by his parents and two brothers Vern and Edwin, & sister-in-law Lois Litzenberger.
God speed Norman. May you catch the biggest fish ever.
