Monica Roussin Obituary

Monica passed away November 12, 2021 at Yorkton Regional Hospital Intensive Care Unit in Yorkton, Saskatchewan.  Monica was born December 3, 1950 the 3rd child of 5 to Valmore and Margaret Generuex in Souix Lookout, Ontario. Monica attended school in Ontario. She met and married the love of her life, Emile Roussin in 1966 and had their first child, a daughter, Kathleen in 1967. They lived in Saskatoon for the first two years and moved to Quebec for several months. Emile was transferred to Timmons, Ontario where they added a son, Ronald, in 1971.

The family moved back to Saskatchewan in 1973 and bought their first little house. The family settled in and got involved in numerous sports and big family activities and gatherings, which she always enjoyed. Monica met many through her times and travels whether it was her time out at Carlton Trail, working security for Mosaic or her business with carpet cleaning; all these encounters turned into great friendships, and she never forgot a familiar face. She always found the time to catch up or at least smile and wave as she walked down the street. Monica was a true friend who lifted up each and everyone she cared about to the Lord every morning before getting out of bed. She loved to dance and sing and eat her fair share of chips and dainties. Monica was always eager to volunteer and lend a hand in any way she could. She enjoyed helping with Camp O`Neil, Beef and Barley and any live music event with her bestie, Margaret, by her side. Monica was a social butterfly and she loved to be surrounded by family and friends.

Monica had a strong relationship with her Church, St. Wenceslaus in Gerald.  Monica prayed the Rosary every day, multiple times. When they bought a beautiful home at Round Lake, Saskatchewan in 2005 they'd drive in any weather to attend and support their beloved parish family. Monica enjoyed drinking tea in her sunroom and bird watching. One of Monica's greatest joy and love was her grand children, she cherished every moment she could spend with them. She will always be remembered for her style and vibrant colors and her infectious laugh and smile that could light up any room. Whether it was a pair of earrings or her shoes, she always had such style that will never be forgotten, including a splash of color in her hair.

Our hearts are broken, but she is at peace and dancing in the sky. Monica will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Kathleen (Charles) and Ron (Angela). Her grandchildren Taryn, Sebastian, Julian, Sydney, Michael, Hunter, Xavia, and Renee; great granddaughter Saoirse; many nieces and nephews; and siblings.

Speak Their Name

Someone I love has gone away

And life is not the same

The greatest gift that you can give

Is just to speak their name

I need to hear the stories

And the tales of days gone past

I need for you to understand

These memories must last

We can not make more memories

Since they're no longer here

So when you speak of them to me

It's music to my ear

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
How do you know Monica Roussin?
We are sorry for your loss.
Help others honor Monica's memory.
