Mary Theresa Patrick was born June 7, 1932 in the Grayson area. She was one of seven children born to Karl and Apollonia Lesko. Mary married George Patrick on May 12, 1952. They lived and farmed on the Patrick family farm in the Esterhazy area. Mary was busy on the farm milking cows, raising chickens, selling eggs and tending to her vegetable garden. She took great pride in a well-maintained lawn, beautiful flower beds and raising their five children.
Enjoyment for Mary came in the form of dancing at such places as the old schoolhouses, the dance halls at Round Lake and Rainbow Hall in the Qu’Appelle Valley. She enjoyed playing cards. She enjoyed a good game of Bridge and was able to read the other players’ cards skillfully and bid just right. In later years, Mary became very involved in the Golden Jets making new friendships and organizing events within.
In 2009, Mary phoned each of her five children to say that she had made the decision to leave the family farm and to move into Esterhazy. This all was just to let each of us know where to find her if you wanted to have coffee with her. Mary enjoyed her home on Lake Street where she still could maintain a garden and flowerbeds. Due to declining health, Mary had to then move to Maple Street Manor where she resided for 3 years. In February 2025, Mary then moved to the Centennial Special Care Home in Esterhazy where she peacefully passed away at the age of 92 on April 22, 2025.
Mary was a GRANDMA ON DEMAND. She could always be counted on to babysit. Mary had a very special bond with each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She missed very few events in their lives.
Mary leaves to mourn her passing, her sons Ivan and grandchildren Crystal, Terry, Russ and Lynn; Ronald (Elaine) and grandchildren Jennifer and Jason; her daughters Sandra Fiala (Ken) and grandchildren Bryan and Blake; Linda Hudacek (Doug Bolton) and grandchildren Curt and Micheal; Caren Godin (Dan) and grandchildren Robert and Baillie, along with 19 great-grandchildren. Also mourning her loss are Ken Hudacek as well as her sister Ann Schuster of Regina and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary is predeceased by her husband George, her parents Karl and Apollonia Lesko, her brother Edward and sisters Julia Ekes, Frieda Meisner, Carrie Henry, Elizabeth Zelopski, and daughter-in-law Wendy Patrick.
Rest in peace, Mom.
