Born south of Dubuc, SK, in Axle and Marta Franson’s farmhouse, Martha was the older of 2 daughters of Elof John Anderson and Jenny Evelyn Franson, Martha attended Round Lake Elementary School and took her high school in Dubuc, after which, she spent one year in teacher’s College at MooseJaw, SK. Martha taught for ten years, after obtaining another year of sec. ed. She managed the Kozy hotels for 6.5 years and the Sears outlet in Whitewood for 17 years. In 1953 she was married to WM. Ken Burge, they had 6 children but were divorced in 1995.
Martha enjoyed visiting people, playing cards, and dancing. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and painting, especially on rocks. Martha was predeceased by her parents; and her sons Sid and Ron Burge. She is survived by her partner Fred Joynt, her sister, Bernice, and her children; Brian, Teresa, Anita, and Jean Nelson and 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren plus many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
