With family at her side & surrounded by love, Margaret passed away peacefully September 8, 2021 at the age of 95.
Margaret was born January 25, 1926 at the family farm 6 miles north of Grayson, Saskatchewan the second youngest of 11 children with Hungarian as her first language.
Margaret married Stanley, November 12, 1951 and together raised their 6 children on the farm near Yarbo, SK. Their marriage can only be described as a true love story based on faith, respect, acceptance, forgiveness, love and above all – family. In retirement, they moved to Esterhazy, SK. & began to travel and enjoy the beauty of North America.
Margaret was a very positive & social person who made many good friends of all ages. Her smile, laughter, kindness, grace and twinkle in her eyes have comforted many. She was a very proud and active CWL member for 61 years, enjoyed volunteering and attending community events.
Margaret loved to make quilts for family & for charity. In her later years, she was seldom without her knitting needles making hundreds of bears for children in Africa, family members and children in the community. She looked forward to attending her quilting group with the church ladies every winter week to enjoy camaraderie & the joy of making a difference in the world with the gifts of quilts and little knitted bears.
She was predeceased by her husband Stan in 2019, parents John & Juliana (Kulcsar) Barilla, and siblings Sr. Juliana, Mary, John, Sr. Elizabeth, Rose Drotar, Anne (Sr. Stephen), Helen (Sr. Blanda), Theresa (Sr. Rhoda), Joseph and Stephen.
Margaret will be greatly missed by her children: David (Catherine) & son Brenden (Wynter); Donna; Jim (Marilyn) & son Justin; Mark; Ralph & son Russell & daughter Aimee (John) Sarazin; Laura & daughter Lana (Elmo) Hevey & great-grandchildren Frankie and Isla.
