Lorraine Helen Flaman

Born July 7, 1946 in Esterhazy to Andrew and Helen (Soos) Kristoff. Reg was born 2 years later. Helen became sick with cancer shortly after Reg was born and Lorraine and Reg went to stay with their Paternal Grandparents. With the love of her father and grandparents, Lorraine grew up to be a hard working and loving person. She attended St. Istvan school until grade 8. Later on she would say she got her degree in B.S.

In 1966, Lorraine met Dave Flaman, a smooth character, from Wapella. Rumor has it Dave taught her the B.S. They married on October 22, 1966. They lived in Esterhazy to start out and she worked at the hospital until Jeff was born in July of ‘67. From there they moved around a bit in Alberta and Vince was born in Calgary in ‘71. They moved back to Esterhazy in 1974.

Lorraine was always working hard and enjoyed canning, gardening, going to kids’ sports and different events. She was well known for her cooking, in    particular her cabbage rolls, perogies, and her torta cakes. She worked at the Centennial Special Care Home for 36 years.

Lorraine loved visiting with family and friends and was a member of the CWL, hospital auxiliary, Kaposvar Historical Site, and St. Istvan Rec. Club. 

Lorraine always had a smile and a kind word whenever she met someone. Many trips to the store were extended due to a visit with someone she met while shopping.

Lorraine was also a person of great faith, having grown up with the rosary, a source of great comfort over the years.

Lorraine was a big fan of the Roughriders and in hockey was a Senator fan and later became a fan of the Jets, after randomly starting a conversation with Kyle Connor.

She loved to watch Telemiracle and would stay up start to finish to watch with random “resting her eyes” in between.

Lorraine will be sadly missed by everyone who she touched the lives of.

Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Helen, brother Reg,  numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, David, her children, Jeff and Vince and grandson Andrew, three aunts, Aunt Cicilia, Aunt Mary, Aunt Ethel, and her loving extended family Brenda and Zane Johnston.
