Lorne Bradley Obituary

After 92 years of a well-lived life, Lorne William Arthur Bradley passed away on June 6, 2026 at the Esterhazy Centennial Special Care Home. He was born on February 4, 1934 to Wilbert and Alice Bradley (Tebb), in their Hazelcliffe farm, on Section 15-18-22 W1.  He was the fourth of seven children born in that home. In 1947, the family moved to the farm Lorne’s grandfather had homesteaded in 1889.

Lorne attended the one-room schoolhouse in Hazelcliffe through Grade 10. He shared stories of many escapades while walking, or taking horse and cart/cutter, to and from school.  He boarded in Tantallon to complete Grade 11. Lorne and Rae then farmed together for many years, and he was very proud of “Bradley Brothers Simmentals”.

Lorne married Sheila Millham on July 27, 1963, in Hazelcliffe United Church. They purchased Sheila’s father’s farm and lived there until retiring from farming and moving to Esterhazy.

Lorne loved farm life, and raising his children, Grant and Laurie, on the farm.  He was very involved in supporting all of his kids’ activities and spent many years as a leader in the Tantallon 4-H Beef Club.  Of course, Lorne taught his kids to curl!  It was his favourite sport, and he continued to curl into his 80’s. If he wasn’t curling, he was watching curling – at the local club, or on TV, or travelling to attend events. He had very fond memories of winning a trip (along with Rae, and Benny and Allan Forst) to represent IMC at the Chicago Invitational Bonspiel in 1965.

Lorne was the last of his siblings, having been pre-deceased by brothers: Rae, Bob, Lyle, and Wesley (as an infant); and sisters: Irene (Del)Phillips, and Marie (Allan) Forst.

Lorne is survived by: his loving wife of almost 63 years, Sheila; son, Grant (Lisa); daughter, Laurie (Ken) Shepherd; and his adored granddaughters, Riley and Rayna Shepherd; as well as sisters-in-law: Marie Bradley; Faye Bradley; and Elaine Bradley, and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lorne was a quick-witted, humble, and kind man... a true gentleman. He was a reliable community member, a beloved neighbour, and a cherished Husband, Brother, Father, Papa and Uncle. He was loved by all who knew him, and he will be missed so very much.

Thank you to all the staff at the Esterhazy Centennial Special Care Home for providing care and comfort to him in his final months.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Esterhazy Centennial Special Care Home or Parkinson Canada.
