With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Linda Chomos on December 10, 2022.
Linda was born in Saskatoon on Oct 2, 1948. She completed her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education (with Distinction) degrees from the University of Regina.
She began her teaching career in Esterhazy in 1970 where she taught for one year and met her husband of 50 years, Lawrence. After they were married in 1972, they lived in Regina for 3 years. In 1975 they moved to Fort McMurray where Linda became the first teacher librarian for the Catholic school system. In 1987 the family permanently moved back to Esterhazy. During that time, Linda taught French and Language Arts and was a teacher librarian. She retired in 2004 as a Resource-Based Learning Consultant with the Potashville School Division.
Linda was very active in her community. She was a longstanding member of the Jean Pask Library Board and the Esterhazy Museum Board, and she also served as Town Councillor for 10 years. At Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, Linda was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and served a term as President. She was also a lecturer, reader, and children’s liturgy leader for over 20 years.
Linda loved gardening, crocheting, playing bridge, reading and curling, but most of all spending time in the company of her wonderful grandchildren.
Linda is predeceased by her mother and father Roy and Myra Corrigal, her brother Ed and brothers-in-law Bryce and Larry.
She is survived by her husband Lawrence, and children, son Paul (Robbyn), daughters Kathleen and Laura, niece Lori (Derek), and grandchildren Olivia, Alexzander, Elijah, Sophia, Lukas, Isabelle and Odin. She is also survived by her sisters Lorraine (Richard) and Diane, brothers Gary (Brenda) and Brian (Kathy), brothers-in-law Jerome, Father Basil and Raymond (Heather), sisters-in-law Audrey, Annie and Carm.
