(as written by Len)
Len was born on Aug. 4th 1934 on the family farm South of Goodeve, Sk to Thomas and Nell (Logan) Forster. He was the second of three sons. He attended Robert School. For the last two years of school he stayed home spring and fall to help seed and harvest. After Grade 8 he quit school to stay home help on the farm. As there was no tractors at that time, he was driving horses for all the farming needs. He had a love for horses so driving them was not a problem. Horseback riding was the means of transportation. In the 50’s his love of music gave him a chance to play in Sawchyn’s family band. They played for dances and weddings for many years. It was playing for dances at Jedburgh that’s when he met his wife to be Emelie Keyowski. After a few years of dating they were married in June 1956. They raised four boys- Grant, David, Garth and Douglas. Len gave up on farming and joined the labour force. He had many jobs trying to make a better life for his family. He was a Truck Driver, Grain Buyer, and Department of Highways worker to name a few. It was with the Dept. of Highways that brought him and his family to Esterhazy in 1966. After many years he gave up full time working because of back problems. He became a truck driver for Parkland Manufacturing, the best job he ever had. He still had his love for music and formed his own band with 2 of his sons. They played in many places for many years. Len also had a love for old trucks. He would buy them, fix them up and sell them. He spent many years doing volunteer work. He was with the Boy Scouts, Lions Club and 18 years as the manager of Esterhazy Housing. He enjoyed wood working. His family and friends were blessed with stuff he made out of wood. He spent many hours late at night making something.
