Kathleen Sigridur Eleanor Olafson born on May 26th 1932 to Ingie and Alice Olafson in the big house on the Douglas farm.
Mom attended Tantallon School from the fall of 1938 to June 1951, attaining a grade 11 certificate and passing a few Grade 12 classes. Mom enrolled at Success Business College in Saskatoon for a secretarial course. Mom helped out at Grampa’s garage until September 1953 when she accepted a position at MacKenzie Law Office in Esterhazy. Mom took a lot of pride and was very proud to work for MacKenzie’s for over 10 years.
In 1953 mom met the love of her life Stan Lucas when he joined the Holar All Star Baseball team. On October 29th, 1955 mom and dad were married, missing 65 years of marriage by just a few weeks.
Mom worked closely with dad on the farm. Driving tractor, picking stones helping grannie with harvest meals and looking after the books. Mom loved the autumn. The changing colors, the harvest and of course the garden harvest. Mom enjoyed her flowers. The yard was always very colourful in the summer with all the flowers. Her most enjoyable time of year was Christmas. She really enjoyed seeing the joy and excitement in her grandchildren.
Mom’s house was always open for her family and friends. Whether it was a visit or a shoulder to cry on Mom was always there for you.
