Karen Stokes of Round Lake, Saskatchewan passed away unexpectedly at the age of 61.
Karen is predeceased by her husband Craig Stokes and father Joe Jacob. Karen is survived by her mother Mona Jacob, sons Riley Woytas (Denae), Scott Woytas (Ari), Jesse Stokes, Fuji Stokes (Stephanie), as well as six grandchildren (Brynne, Renelle, Maddox, Holden, Maverick and Munroe), sister Rhonda Lavender, nephew Carson and niece Megan.
Shed Horn was Craig and Karen’s oasis and a place where friends and family gathered together to live life to the fullest. After Craig’s passing, Karen continued to enjoy her life at the lake, spending summers tending to the rock gardens and enjoying the campground with all who visited. The winters brought ice fisherman who often passed by the house with a wave or stopped in to say hello.
Karen was an avid sports fan. It was not unusual to see her at local sporting events cheering her grandchildren on and supporting other kids. She loved watching her grandchildren participate in all activities including hockey, gymnastics, softball, and curling. Upon the arrival of her first grandchild, she took on the name “Granny” which was how many kids referred to her.
Karen was a true Rider fan who loved watching the games while sporting her Rider jersey and earrings. If the Riders lost, for the next game she would sit in a different spot, wear an alternate shirt or change to another set of green earrings.
Karen will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her loving and supportive nature will continue to provide many memories and ensure her legacy lives on through her family.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to STARS Air Ambulance. A private family service will be held to celebrate Karen’s life.
