John Toth Obituary

John Jerome Toth was born to John and Mary (Banga) Toth on March 25, 1953.  He was married to Debra Werner on May 5, 1978.  He passed away at Yorkton Regional Health Center on Monday, October 7, 2024 at the age of 71 years.

Johnny was a quiet, soft-hearted man with a great sense of humor and a quick wit. But there were times he could show his stubborn side.  He loved cattle, always keeping track of which cow had which calf.  He loved horses, especially his horse he trained from a little colt, Queen.  He also enjoyed watching the spring lambs, playing and chasing each other.

When he was younger, he enjoyed playing shuffleboard and even played in a shuffleboard tournament with his neighbor, Freddy Sundberg.

His favorite time of the year was harvest.  He liked to watch the grain fall into the hopper and fill up the bins one by one.

He was an avid hunter, usually filling his tag with only a few times having to hang the tag on the Christmas tree, one of our family traditions.

He loved his grandchildren, always asking about their sports, or wishing them a “Happy Birthday” and giving Adrianna cucumbers on her birthday.

John had nicknames for some of his nieces and nephews which really meant he had a special place in his heart for them.

Johnny had many jobs in his lifetime. He worked at the IMC Mine in Esterhazy were he was employed underground as a pin puller.  He also worked at Rod’s Cat House in Stockholm, assembling and repairing skidoos, boat motors, lawn mowers and chain saws.  John was employed by Sasktel when they were putting in underground cables for phone lines in the rural areas.  He drove loader tractor for Stevenson Dirt Movers in Assiniboia, building roads. He also worked at Petracek Seed Farms bagging flaxseed.  But his real love was the farm.

Johnny was predeceased by his son, Byram, his parents John and Mary, his brother Joey, his brother-in-law Wilfred Bartok, sister-in-law Sandra and niece Stacey, great nephews Kurt and Tyson Bartok, great niece Erin and numerous aunts and uncles.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Debra, his son Jeff (Jenna), grandchildren Kendelle and Cooper, his son Brad (Tessa), grandchildren Kate, Makayla, Eli and Lily, his daughter Jennalee Prodgers (Cole), grandchildren Adrianna, and Jaxon and his son Cory.

His brothers and sisters, Gertie Bartok, Kenneth Toth, Bernie (Edward) Hourd, Gerard Toth and Carleen (Brian) Schermann plus many nieces and nephews.
