In Loving Memory of Joan Aline Johanson
Joan was one of nine children born to Leslie and Bernice Phillips of Alysham, Saskatchewan. Joan met the love of her life, Julius Jonas Johanson on one of his trips to Nipawin, Saskatchewan. They were married on June 29, 1951. Together, they had five children, Carey Blaine, Bonnie Faye, Lionel Dean, Mark Anthony, and Fern Adele.
They lived their whole married life in the Stockholm area. Joan and Julius farmed for many years south of Stockholm. Later in life they retired to live in Stockholm. Joan’s many loves were – reading, watching game shows, curling, and the Toronto Blue Jays. She also loved her knitting and crocheting, where she made many blankets and numerous sweaters.
They were blessed with nine grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
After the passing of her husband Julius in November of 2007, Joan lived the remainder of her life in Stockholm, up until the last five months, where she resided at the Centennial Care Home in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Julius, son Carey, father Leslie Phillips, mother Bernice Phillips, sister Vivian (Mick), sister Nora (Gordon), sister Ruth (Odelle), brother Weslie, brother Ronald, and sister Donelda (Darwin).
Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are – Bonnie (Adrian), three grandsons – Christopher (Shawla), Ashley, Courtney and Three great-grandsons, Lionel (Joan), three grandchildren Jeremy (Joey), Tamara (Mike), Kellie (Richard), and twelve great-grandchildren; Mark (Debbie), Fern (Mervin), three grandchildren - Amanda (Trevor), Brooke (Travis), Mitchell and eight great grandchildren, sister Mavis (Lloyd-deceased), Larry (Sharlene), and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Joan was a very special lady to so many people. She will be dearly missed and held forever in our hearts.
