James was born in Steinbach, Manitoba on August 3rd, 1935 (one of twins) to Abram and Marie Giesbrecht. He was raised on a farm in south eastern Manitoba and received his education in the Hanover School District.
He left the family farm at an early age, moving to Winnipeg. He worked at a variety of jobs. His main interest involved highway transportation, choosing this as his lifetime career. He started as a long-haul driver and later moved into a management position.
In 1956, he met and married the love of his life, Helen (nee Doell). They were blessed with three wonderful children.
In 1969, while employed with Kleysen Transport he was transferred to a position as manager of the Potash and Road Salt Division in Esterhazy. He held this position until 1991 when he was forced to retire because of health reasons.
Camping, boating and snowmobiling were always a top priority with the family. Camping trips to western, southern and eastern destinations were always enjoyed.
After retiring James and Helen spent time gardening as well as being winter snowbirds, RVing to Texas, Arizona, and California.
They made numerous RV trips to Manitoba to visit family and friends, as well as trips to western provinces and exploring the Maritimes.
James is predeceased by his son, Donald Wayne; his parents, two sisters and three brothers. He leaves to mourn his wife of 63 years, Helen; daughter Judi Lynn (Ian); daughter Arlene Helane (Randy); grandson Derek Wayne; granddaughter Kristin Alysa (Justin); great grandson Owen James; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
