Helen Giesbrecht Obituary

Helen was born in Plum Coulee, Manitoba, on August 26, 1936, to Cornelius and Marie Doell. She was the second youngest in a family of six brothers and three sisters. She was raised and received her education in Plum Coulee, a small community east of Winkler.

She moved to Winnipeg at an early age and worked at a variety of jobs.

In 1956 she met and married the love of her life, James Giesbrecht. They were blessed with three wonderful children.

In 1969, because of a job transfer, they moved to Esterhazy.

Helen was a full-time homemaker, taking care of her family while babysitting for others.

She enjoyed her flowers and garden very much. she loved partaking in sports including baseball, curling and bowling. This along with family camping trips across Canada and winter vacations in the tropics and southern United States.

She was a member of the Royal Purple for more than twenty years, a member of the United Church Women's Group and Donors’ Choice, along with delivering Meals on Wheels under the U.C.W. banner.

She is predeceased by her son Donald Wayne, her parents, two sisters and six brothers, her ever-loving husband of 63 years and 4 months, and nieces and nephews.

Left to mourn are daughters Judi Lynn (Ian), Arlene Helane (Randy); grandson Derek Wayne, granddaughter Kristin Alysa, and great-grandson Owen James.
