Harold Rowein of Stockholm, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully on October 27, 2021 at Regina General Hospital surrounded by loved ones, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Harold was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Bertha Rowein and aunts, uncles, in-laws, friends and other family.
He is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Rowein, his son Vern (Charlene) Rowein and their sons, Alex and Carter, his son Curt (Lynn Hnatick) Rowein, brothers and sisters Ed Rowein, Joe (Marcella) Rowein, Phyllis Sieben (Tony), Diane (Barry) Neufeld, Richard (Linda) Rowein, Betty Ann (Lloyd) Shapka, Bill (Vivian) Rowein, brothers in law Ken Shivak and Dave (Margaret Ann) Shivak and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harold was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan and grew up on the farm in Primate, Saskatchewan with his seven brothers and sisters. He attended school at Palm and Kokesch. After leaving school, he took a course in heavy equipment and worked various jobs before moving to Esterhazy in 1963 to work at the IMC Potash Mine.
Harold met the love of his life, Margaret, in Esterhazy. They married in Stockholm, Saskatchewan in October 1965, settled there and raised two sons, Vern and Curt. Harold had a long career in farming, carpentry and handyman services. He loved serving his community and volunteered his time on various boards, committees and social activities.
Harold retired in 2009 after 38 years of farming. While retired, Harold loved spending time with family and friends, socializing and playing cards. He enjoyed time with his grandkids, music and was a long-time member of the church choir. Harold and Margaret had the opportunity to travel and enjoyed trips to places like Niagara Falls and Hawaii.
