Gloria Margaret (Sjodin) Lomenda

Gloria Margaret Sjodin was born in Esterhazy, SK on June 22, 1954 to Hilda (Johanson) and Roy Sjodin.  She was the fourth child born and a sister to Gwen (Kada), Gale (Kada), and Gregory. Her brother’s Gilroy and Gwilym completed their family. Gloria was raised on the farm south of Stockholm and attended Swea School. When the country school closed, Gloria went to Stockholm school and then graduated from Esterhazy high school with her grade 12 diploma in 1972. She ventured to Regina and worked various jobs before attending Wascana Institute of Applied Arts where she spent 1 year in secretarial school. Upon completion she found a job with Sask Wheat Pool. Gloria enjoyed coming home to Stockholm to visit her family. During a visit, she met Robert Lomenda, in 1979 Gloria and Robert started their life together in Saskatoon. She took a job in the library at the University of Saskatchewan. 0n Aug 7, 1981 Gloria became a wife to Robert and stepmother to his children Torey and Crystal. Gloria and Robert enjoyed many years together in Saskatoon, they also had a shared property with Gilroy at Round lake and hosted friends and family often. In 2008 Gloria took early retirement and Robert and her moved to Stockholm, Sk. Gloria helped care for her mother and enjoyed retirement life. Gloria was diagnosed with cancer in October of 2023, she received a stem cell transplant from her brother Gwilym and her treatment was deemed successful. As time passed the cancer returned and Gloria passed away peacefully with her loving husband by her side on Nov 2, 2024 at St. Anthonys Hospital in Esterhazy, SK.

Gloria will be sadly missed by her husband Robert Lomenda, her stepchildren Torey Lomenda (Heidi) and their children Shayla (Chris Swanson), Zachary and Zoe. Crystal (Jeremy Pellerin) and their children Amber (Alex Hall) and Brooke. And great grandchildren Brady, Oakley, Rylan Swanson and Sophie Hall. Gloria’s siblings; Gwen Kada, Gale (Garry) Kada, Gilroy (Jackie) and Gwilym (Anne) and sister-in-law Tammy Sjodin. And special friends Bonnie and Adrian. As well as many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephew, in-laws, cousins and friends.

Gloria is predeceased by her grandparents Alma and Richard Johanson and Ester and Eric Sjodin, parents Hilda (Johanson), Roy Sjodin. Her mother-in-law Ella and father-in-law Edward Lomenda, her brother Gregory Sjodin and brother-in-law Wilfred Kada.
