Gerald Nathaniel Harper of Yarbo, SK. passed away peacefully on March 11, 2023 in Esterhazy, SK. at 89 years.
Gerald “Gerry” Harper was born on the family farm near Togo, SK. to parents Harold “Jim” Harper and Hilda Topham. He spent his childhood there along with brothers Art, Roy, Phil, Reid, and sisters Muriel and Pam.
He met and married Iris Taylor of Deepdale, MB. and together they had four children, one who died as an infant. The family relocated to Yarbo where Gerry worked as a mine operator until retirement. He enjoyed fishing and working on vehicles. When Iris tragically passed away in 2002, Gerry remained in Yarbo.
Gerry later remarried to Helen Martens (Wiebe) of Morris, MB. They enjoyed a quiet life together with their dogs until Gerry’s health declined and they moved into the Centennial Care Home in Esterhazy until his death.
He is survived by his wife Helen, son Gerald Lindsay and daughter Shannon, grandchildren Jason, Billy, Rowan, Jessie, Cody, brother Phil, and sister Pam.
He is predeceased by his daughter Myrna.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Centennial Care Home in Esterhazy for their kind, compassionate care of Gerry, and their continued support for Helen.
