George Edward Wiebe

We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, George Wiebe, age 79 years.

He passed away on April 27, 2018 due to cancer. George was born in Warman, Sk. on July 4, 1938 to Sarah & Peter Wiebe. When dad was a young boy he would go to the train tracks just to see a train go by and wanted to be one of the workers on that train. When Dad was 17, he got to work on that train and worked for CN Rail for 7 years.

During that time, he fathered 4 children; Dale, Pauline, Carol and Richard. He then moved to Saskatoon and contracted maintenance work till he retired. Dad had many grand       children and great grandchildren.

Dad knew a tremendous amount of people in Saskatoon, which I know will break their hearts to hear he has passed. He loved to go downtown everyday to have coffee and chat to his friends. He always had a smile which would make you smile. He was a kind man.

Sadly, he was diagnosed with cancer in January of 2015. My husband and I had to take him to our farm in  Esterhazy, so we could take care of him. We had 3 wonderful years getting to know him better, and he saw family whom he did not get to see, as well as make new friends.

Dad is at peace now, and we would like to think he is riding on a big black steam engine right now and has the biggest smile on his face. We will carry our memories with dad forever in our hearts.
