Garnet Moore Obituary

It is with utter sadness and aching hearts that we write about the sudden passing of our beloved Garnet (husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle), a true gem.  Anyone that knew him well, knew him as: Garn, Gotch, Billy, Moore Gotch or Garnie.

Albert and Mildred Moore welcomed Garnet on October 9, 1956. Garnet always joked he was born in a manger.  He grew up surrounded by his large family, 6 brothers and 4 sisters, attending school at Tantallon and Esterhazy, graduating in 1974.  He attended school at Kelsey for heavy duty mechanics.  He started working at D.A. Miller & Son in Tantallon before he began working as a travelling salesman for over 40 years.  Garnet's vast knowledge and work ethic in the bearing industry was unprecedented and he created many genuine friendships/relationships over the years.  His time at Motion during the last months of his life reignited his passion for the industry.

In May 1976 Garnet met the love of his life, Laurie.  After falling deeply in love they got married in January 1978.  In December 1982 they started their beautiful family and Darcie was born.  Four years later, in 1986, Sheri was born, completing the Cool Beans!

Garnet loved spending his summers taking his family camping and going on holidays.  Once the girls were grown and moved out, they each got married and welcomed Corey and then Pat into their family.  Garnet and Laurie enjoyed going out to visit them as often as they could.  In 2016 the family grew more and welcomed his most precious grandson, Bodi.

Garnet really enjoyed watching hockey (Go Habs Go!), curling, football and golf.  Golfing and playing ball were loved pastimes of Garnet's, but curling (Hurry Hard!) was his favorite sport.  In the spring and fall you could find him on one of his John Deere tractors garden tilling or cutting grass and in the winter, snow blowing.  Garnet was an excellent cook and loved to BBQ.  Garnet truly knew how to enjoy every moment, ending each day having a glass of wine with Laurie.

Until we meet again on the other side, Cheers!

Garnet was predeceased by his dad Albert, sister-in-law Judy, great niece Chloe, mother-in-law Betty and father-in-law Stephen.

Garnet's spirit will be forever cherished by his wife Laurie, daughters Sheri (Pat), Darcie (Corey); grandson Bodi; mom Mildred; Brothers Garth (Bernie), Grant (Tracey), Garry (Cindy), Greg (Patty), Glen (Dianne), Gilbert (the late Judy); Sisters Karen (Wayne), Bonnie (Alex), Denise and Shelly; In-laws Marlette (Garth), Faye and Charylle (Greg) and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, 30 and counting.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
