Frances Dancsok was born Jan 28, 1922 to Alexander and Annie (Tochor) Green on the homestead just West of Esterhazy. She attended Brookvale School near Esterhazy.
The oldest of 7, Frances always had to work hard at home doing chores, milking cows and helping to raise and care for her siblings.
In 1940 she met a very persistent, but dashing man by the name of George and they started a courtship. On July 29, 1941 Frances and George where married. They were blessed with three children; Brenda, Garth and Lloyd. In 1945 they purchased a farm in the Kaposvar District where Frances lived until 2011. Reluctantly she had to leave her home when it became too much for her to cope on her own. Being legally blind it was amazing how she was able to continue as long as she did, continuing to cook, garden and look after the place and herself, while still always being there for everyone else.
Frances’s passion was cooking, gardening and of course, her family. Not a day went by that she didn’t spend it worrying about one of us. She always kept a garden large enough to supply fresh vegetables and preserves for everyone in the family and more, and every fall would harvest a field of potatoes that would fill the basement cold storage room from floor to ceiling. Having gone through such tough times in the thirties, she never wanted to experience that desperation again.
She was an integral part of their farming operation keeping all the men fed and watered, running for parts, and even helping out on the tractor or truck when needed. She would do the chores during seeding and harvest, help with the livestock and butchering and never took a day off. She was not happy unless she was working, yet no matter how busy she was she always had time for family.
Something she loved the most was when George would say “c’mon Fran, let’s go for a drive down the valley...to see the cows.” He would get out and call them and they would all come. This was such a feeling of pride for Frances to see what they had accomplished together in their life.
Still not ready to give up or depend upon others, Frances moved into an apartment in Daisy Hill where she continued to live on her own up until this spring when she took sick and underwent surgery to remove her gall bladder. The doctors never expected her to pull through, but we knew she would. That is just the tough person she was.
Frances was very involved with the Catholic Women’s League. Her Catholic faith was very important to her.
Frances was predeceased by her husband George, her daughter Brenda Roberts, parents Alex and Annie Green, sisters Mildred, Elsie and Clara and brother Leonard.
She leaves to mourn her son’s Garth(Sandy) and Lloyd(Lynne), her son-in-law Gordon Roberts, her 8 Grandchildren; Kendra Roberts (Dale Glover), Kordell Roberts (Jackie), Crystal (Brian) Garrett, Angelle (Matt) Potter, Tennille Dancsok(Rob), Dana(Jason) Berger, Cole(Justina) Dancsok, Jenna(Jeff) Toth. She also leaves behind 6 Great Grand Children Alex (Miah) Garrett, Miranda Garrett (Nicholas), Megan, Colton Roberts, Auston Roberts and Liam Clive.
