Enid Johnson was born on February 26, 1928 to Sam and Frances Buxton on the family farm near Zeneta, Saskatchewan. She was the youngest of five children. She received her education at schools in Zeneta and Esterhazy. As a child she enjoyed helping her father doing outside activities. She learned to be an excellent cook under her mother’s instruction.
June 10, 1946, she married Clarence Johnson. This union was blessed with three children, Ila, Loren, and Marilyn. Clarence and Enid remained living and working on the farm until they moved to Esterhazy in 1962. Clarence continued farming and working at IMC, while Enid worked as a cashier at local businesses. Once in Esterhazy, she became an active member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion. Her interests also included curling, golfing, and bridge. Knitting and crocheting were pastimes that benefited her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers.
Clarence and Enid began vacationing later in life and by 1984 winters in Arizona became their preferred destination.
At a Ralph Bell crusade in Yorkton, Enid responded to the alter call and went forth to accept Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Shortly thereafter, on June 3, 1993, she was baptized by immersion upon confession of her faith and became a member of the Esterhazy Baptist Church.
Enid passed away peacefully on February 1, 2022 having reached the age of 93 years. All those who share her belief in Christ rejoice in the fact that she is now safely in the arms of Jesus.
Enid’s hospitality, generosity and kindness was known by all who met her. She was especially devoted to her family and had a great affection for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Enid was predeceased by her parents, Sam and Frances Buxton; her husband, Clarence Johnson; her brothers Edwin Buxton, James Buxton; her sisters Amy Louise Meyer, Frances Dawe; several nieces and nephews, 11 sisters-in-law, 13 brothers-in-law and her beloved son-in-law, Ron Marchand.
Enid leaves to celebrate her life, her children Ila Marchand, Loren (Yvonne) Johnson, and Marilyn (Lyle) McKerracher; her grandchildren Glenn (Audrey) Marchand, Derron (Gina) Johnson and Derek (Pam) Johnson; and her great grandchildren Nicole, Jonathon and Renee Marchand, Caleb and Naomi Johnson, and Lydia and Dillon Johnson; and sister-in-law Eva Johnson. She is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, friends, and acquaintances.
Jesus said… “I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25).
Because of this promise, we look forward to a joyous reunion with Enid in heaven someday.
