Emelie Forster Obituary

Emelie Marie Forster passed away on February 9th 2022 at the Esterhazy Centennial Care Home after a long and difficult battle with dementia.

Emelie was born on April 7 1936 to Peter and Marie (Biletski) Keyowski on the family homestead near Jedburgh Saskatchewan. She attended Jedburgh school thru grade 11 when she dropped out to help her mother on the farm. In the early 50’s she met a handsome guitar player named Len Forster who was in the band at a local dance. They were married in 1956 and spent their first 10 years of marriage in and around the Melville area before moving to Esterhazy in the fall of 1966 where she lived until her death.

Emelie enjoyed spending time in her gardens. She loved her flowers and there wasn’t a pot or a piece of ground that she didn’t try grow something in. She loved to cook and especially bake. She was always busy in her kitchen making cookies or cakes and sharing them with her family and friends. She was proud of her Polish upbringing, and she passed down to her sons her cooking skills as well as how to prepare many traditional Polish dishes.

As a young girl she found a passion for doing fine embroidery which she carried through her whole life. Most nights she could be found working on a pattern on a tablecloth or pillowcase.

Emelie was famous for her homemade soup. Every Monday she would make a pot of soup and by week’s end, the leftovers from the weekly meals found its way into the Chef's Special soup. For a number of years, she was the soup chef at Soup n Stuff and many people enjoyed her creations. She was especially proud to have worked with her two oldest granddaughters there.

One of her most favourite things was the music of Daniel O’Donnel. She was proud of the fact that she got to see his show a total of 17 times including shows in Branson, Minot, Regina and Saskatoon. Daniel was playing for her as she passed on to the next life.

Emelie was predeceased by her husband Leonard, her parents Peter and Marie Keyowski, her in-laws Thomas and Nellie Forster, brother Norman and grandchildren Stephanie and Michael. Brothers-in-law Pat Forster, Ken Forster and sister-in-law Audrey Forster. She is survived by her sons Grant (Linda), David (Laurel), Garth and Douglas (Teresa). Grandchildren Kelly (Clint) Hiebert, Tiffany (Ryan) Banow, Zachary (Amanda) Forster, Cassidy (Ryan) Miskiman. Shae-Lynn Forster, Drake Forster and Joshua Forster. Great Grandchildren Flora, Oliver and Hazel. Sister-in-law Ethel Keyowski. Brother Larry (Janice) Keyowski and sister Debbie (Jack) Keyowski and sister-in-law Merle Forster.
