Elva passed away peacefully the morning of Wednesday, September 29th. She was pre-deceased by her Husband, Scott; her Parents, Mike and Juliana Stadler; her Sister, Gloria Leftwich; and numerous Boreen family members.
Elva was born in Stockholm, Saskatchewan, the eldest of 3 children (Brother Ross). She married Scott in September of 1955 and made Esterhazy their Family home for 66 years - raising four children Chandra (Arthur Howlett); Blake (Olivia); Sheldon; and Mark.
Elva was an athlete at heart - volleyball and basketball during her senior years in Mission/Matsqui BC; curling and golf - both at the local recreational and provincial competitive levels. She was an amazing cook and exceptional baker which her four Grandchildren Josh (Sarah); Tia-Jayne (Chris); Colton; Morgan and two Great Grandchildren (Kayne and Kora) would wholeheartedly attest to.
Elva took community-mindedness and volunteerism to another level - everything from the Catholic Women’s League, to the Esterhazy Ladies Golf and Curling Clubs, the Esterhazy Figure Skating Club, as well as serving on the Saskatchewan Housing Board. If something was occurring in and around Esterhazy Elva’s dedication, thoughtful contributions and hard work were somehow interwoven.
It is said… “Once a mother, always a mother”. Devoted and caring - from raising her Family, to being a mentor (golf and curling), to driving a school bus - Elva always ensured that everyone was placed first and foremost. She always put other’s needs and interests ahead of her own.
Elva appreciated and was grateful for her quality of life. She freely and unselfishly gave of her time and talents because of this.
Death may extinguish a life but it will never destroy the countless memories that this amazing, yet humble lady gave to all of us that knew, worked or played alongside her.
May you rest in Peace…. Mom, Grandma, “GG”, Auntie and Friend
