Obituary

Edward Anthony Rowland  (September 27, 1942-May 21, 2020)

Ed was born September 27, 1942 to Gordon and Marie (Ryan) in Stratford , Ontario,  the youngest of 5 children.  Ed worked in Ontario and had two sons John and Spencer.  In 1974 he met his wife Maggie and they moved to Calgary Ab where their daughter Jessica was born.  There he worked as a heavy duty mechanic for Kleysen Transport.  In 1983 Ed was transferred to Esterhazy where he settled, raised his family and eventually started his own heavy duty mobile mechanic business.

Ed’s hobby was his work.   You could always find him in his shop shooting the breeze with his customers (who often became friends) .  His quick wit and humour will be forever remembered.  Ed’s biggest joy was his grandchildren.  He was a very proud Grampa and made sure he attended all of their activities and sports.  Katie, Cal and Clark are blessed with wonderful memories like helping Grampa build their playhouse and working with him in his shop.  Without fail Grampa always had tootsie rolls and werthers in his pocket for them.  He will be so dearly missed.

Ed passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side on May 21, 2020 in hospital in Esterhazy.   Ed was predeceased by his father and mother, brothers John and Michael, sister Elizabeth as well as his son John.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of many years, Maggie, daughter Jessica (Charles) Cuthill and grandchildren Katie, Cal and Clark of Welwyn, son Spencer and grandson Sheldon of London ON.,  daughter-in-law Sherry and grandchildren Brady and Sydney of London ON as well as his sister Mary Costello of Kitchener ON., sister –in-laws  Joan (Tom)Helm, Dianne (Ron) Farrell, Carol (Ken )Goebel and brother-in-law Donald (Lillian) all of ON., numerous nieces and nephews.
