Edgar John Dutchek

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Edgar John Dutchek announce his passing on January 26, 2026, at the age of 84.

Edgar was born on April 30, 1941, to John and Margaret Dutchek. He grew up on the family farm near Atwater, SK with his five siblings. He attended Atwater school for eleven years and Stockholm for his final year. In 1960, he joined the R.C.A.F. and worked as a radar technician until 1965.

Edgar was working in Sioux Lookout, ON when he met the love of his life, Angela Parsons. They moved back to Atwater together and were married July 2, 1966. Together they raised two children; Bernadine and Jeffery.

Edgar bought the family farm in 1973 and worked at IMC as an instrument technician and an electrician, later earning his interprovincial ticket. His true love was farming, which he continued to help with after he retired.

Edgar enjoyed many camping trips with his children and grandchildren. He loved hunting, fishing, and socializing with his friends. He also liked gardening, woodworking, and drives out in the country. He was actively involved with the Atwater United Church and community.

Edgar will be remembered for his love of laughter and his enormous heart. He was strong willed and stubborn in the best way, with a sharp sense of humour that kept everyone on their toes. Although he is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.

Edgar is predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Dutchek, parents-in-law Gilbert and May Parsons; brothers Leif (Marilynne) and Harold (Jeannette); brother-in-law Gib Parsons; brother-in-law Allan Johnson; sister-in-law Jill Weinheimer

Edgar will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Angela; two children Bernadine (Wayne) Kaczur and Jeff (Candace), grandchildren and great- grandchildren; Kirstin, daughters Chloe and Meadow; Colton (Maryury), daughter Cecelia; and Shelby (Neil). He will also be remembered by his sisters Elaine (Maynard) Rueker, Florence (Al) Nernberg, and Evelyn Johnson; sisters in law; Cora and her husband Ivan; many nieces, nephews, and his dear friends.

The family thanks the staff at Yorkton Regional Health Centre and Regina General Hospital for their care of Edgar in his final days.
