It is with deep sadness that the family of Dwaine Petracek announces his passing on May 11, 2025, in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan.
Dwaine was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, and uncle whose humor, warmth, and creativity left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Born in Esterhazy on March 10, 1966, Dwaine was the son of the late Helga and Lennard Petracek. He grew up in his hometown, attended school locally, and entered the workforce shortly after. He began his career in road construction and later returned to Esterhazy to work in the mines, where his dedication and strong work ethic were well respected.
On August 3, 1996, Dwaine married the love of his life, Shannon. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising two children, Chelsey and Eric. His heart grew even fuller with the arrival of his grandchildren, Sophie and Mason, through Chelsey and her husband Michael.
Dwaine was known for his quick wit and ability to light up any room. He was the funny uncle, brother, father, and grandpa who never failed to bring a smile. With a creative and inquisitive mind, he loved working on cars and tackling hands-on projects. He was always eager to build, fix, or figure something out.
Those who knew Dwaine will always remember his endless sense of humor. He was a natural jokester—always ready with a one-liner, a playful tease, or a story that would leave everyone in stitches. When he wasn’t making people laugh, he could often be found cheering on the Oilers, working with his hands, or simply enjoying time with his grandchildren. They were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Dwaine will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was predeceased by his brothers Bruce, Pat, Mark, Keith, Larry, Jerry and his parents Lennard and Helga.
Surviving are his wife Shannon, son Eric, daughter Chelsey, son in law Michael, grandchildren Sophie and Mason, brothers Vernon(Karen) and Darcy, sisters June(Gordon) and Della
