Doreen was born in 1933 to parents Irvin and Mary Hendrick. Shew grew up on a farm near Zeneta. She was the eldest of 3 children.
Doreen married Alfred Herperger on October 12, 1953. They bought a farm north of Stockholm and lived there for a few years before moving to Stockholm. They were blessed with 2 children; Donna and Loren.
Throughout these years, Doreen worked in a coffee shop and a car dealership in Esterhazy. When they moved to Stockholm, she got a job working at the post office. Later, she became employed at the local grocery store.
Throughout their marriage, Doreen and Alfred enjoyed travelling to various places with their friends.
Doreen was an avid curler and enjoyed bingo and crocheting. She was also known for her green thumb and her love of flowers. She was an honest lady…except for when it came to playing cards! She would “hook” your money and laugh.
Doreen and Alfred had a wonderful life together for 48 years before Alfred passed away. After Alfred’s passing, Doreen remained in the house for the next 21 years. In November of 2021, she became a resident of the Esterhazy Care home until her passing.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Alfred, brothers; Gordon and Larry, parents; Mary and Irvin, and grandson, Scot.
Doreen is survived by her daughter, Donna (Lawrence), son, Loren (Angie), grandchildren; Shawna (Todd), Brandice (Craig), Crystal (Clayton), Amanda (Terrence), Skylar (Cardell), and great-grandchildren; Avery, Cole, Preslee, Gracyn, Lowyn, Felix, Oliver, Charlie, Demi, Dawson, Dante, Holden, and Connor.
