Donald Geddes Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donald Lorne (Don)Geddes announces his passing.

Born on May 12, 1943, in Endeavour, Saskatchewan, Don was the second youngest of five children born to John and Susan (Appleby) Geddes. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Dolores Knezacek, and together they raised three sons: Sheldon, Corey, and Jody. Throughout the years, Don’s work took the family to many different places, but they eventually made their home in Atwater, SK.

A proud and dedicated member of the Iron Workers Local 771 for over 55 years, Don was known as a hardworking man who never shied away from a challenge. Even when not on the job site, Don kept busy, operating his own back-hoe business, a testament to his tireless work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.

Don was a man with a big sense of humour. He always found time for a laugh, especially when surrounded by friends at The Motor Hotel. He developed a passion for motorcycles and found great joy in riding and socializing.

After the passing of his beloved Dolores in 2004, Don continued to live life fully, spending many winters down south. He later married Ellen Fritz, and although they eventually went their separate ways, they shared meaningful years together.

Don was blessed with a growing family and took great pride in them all. While Dolores may have waited a while to get her girls, together they were overjoyed to welcome five granddaughters and one grandson. In his later years, Don found joy in his four great-grandchildren.

He is remembered by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren:

Son Sheldon (Kerry-Lyn)

Granddaughter Courtney (Cody), great-granddaughter Parker

Granddaughter Tori (Tyler), great-grandson Owen

Son Corey (Kerry)

Granddaughter Jesslyn (Troy)

Grandson Alex (Olivia)

Son Jody (Chrisinda)

Granddaughter Kennedy (Zack), great-granddaughter Lark, great-grandson Cove

Granddaughter Kelslyn

Don’s legacy is one of dedication, resilience, laughter, and love. He worked hard, lived fully, and always made room for one more at the table. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you raise a glass, share a story, and remember Don with a smile.
