Delores Matilda Sapara was born September 3rd,1928 in Killaly, Sask. She was the eldest of seven children born to Ewald and Elizabeth Hoedel.
Delores attended school in Killaly and met George A Sapara during her time there. Delores and George were married on August 9, 1950.
Delores was trained as a teacher, but soon after Delores and George married they began their family and Delores devoted herself full time to being a wife, mother and a homemaker.
George and Delores spent some time living in Killaly and in Regina before finally settling down in Esterhazy in 1965.There, Delores and George raised their four boys and put down deep roots In the community.
Delores was also very involved in many activities over the years. She was an excellent ball player/pitcher for many years. She also was an avid curler which also included a very serious couple of runs in the Provincial Women’s Playdowns. As Delores grew older, she took up golf and was a natural at it and became a lover of the game. Delores developed many close and dear friends through these activities.
Delores’ faith and church community were always important to her. She was very active in the church’s Catholic Women’s League . Delores taught Catechism for a short time. Delores also sang in the church choir for many years. She loved singing in the church and continued her love of singing through most of her life.
Later in life Delores became an unfortunate victim of dementia, which lead to her living in Yorkton for a time. Delores then moved into permanent care in Saskatoon, where she lived her remaining years. She was a source of joy in the home to both the staff and the residents. In her earlier times at the home she was considered “the home’s party girl” because of her energy, her joy, and her always smiling face. And, she always sang her heart out! She passed away peacefully on August 11th, 2022 .
Delores was survived and is mourned by her four sons and their families: Mark and Dianna , Kim and Alison, Grant and Diane and Kris and Debbie. Delores had eight Grandchildren and 10 Great grandchildren.
Delores will be so missed……We love you Mom.
