DeeDee Minchuk Obituary

The family of Geraldine “DeeDee” Minchuk are deeply saddened to announce her sudden passing on February 11, 2025 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre in Yorkton, Saskatchewan at the age of 63.

She was born on December 22, 1961 in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan.  During her life she was raised in Saskatchewan, growing up on Clarke’s Turkey Farm.

In 1977 she met the love of her life, Barry. They got married in July of 1982 and a year later welcomed to the world their first born daughter Stacey in October of 1983.  Two years later they welcomed their second daughter Tiffany in September of 1985, then completing their family with their last daughter Devin in June of 1991. They continued to raise their daughters in Russell, Manitoba until Barry’s job brought them back to their roots in Saskatchewan.

They purchased their home in Tantallon in 1997 and have remained there til this day.

DeeDee was predeceased by her father Gerald “Nappy” Clarke, and brother Gerald “Jerry” Clarke.

She will be forever missed by her husband of 42 years, Barry Minchuk, their daughters Stacey (Paul) McLeod, Tiffany (Derek) Kirby and Devin (Brett) Hootz; mother Sandy (Lyle Godwin) Clarke; brother Todd (Corrine) Clarke; grandchildren Riley, Adalia, Malia, Grace, Joshua, Addyson and Jaxson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, in laws, friends and fur babies that all shared a special place in DeeDee’s heart.

DeeDee, Mama bear, Gramma Dee, Aunty DeeDee, as she was known to most people, loved to visit and get together with family and friends but especially loved to see her grandbabies. Whether you’d only known her for a few minutes or for a lifetime, she left a footprint on your heart, and it felt like you’d known her forever.

The topics she loved to talk about most were her girls and grandchildren.  She was always so proud of everything they did. Whether it was a good grade in school, a funny story to share about the silly things they did or the successes that they achieved, she was always their biggest cheerleader. DeeDee often told her daughters to be proud of their kids and be thankful for the smart kids they are. When she would get phone calls of frustrations from the girls about kid stuff, she often told them to not be mean to her grandbabies.

DeeDee loved gardening, cooking, music, had a contagious laugh that made her stand out in a crowd, but above all she loved her family the most. The last 48 years she spent by the side of her loving husband Barry. They had a love that radiated, and people often saw them out for a cruise in the valley.

In 2019 DeeDee suffered from a stroke that left her unable to care for herself, but she knew she was always in good hands with the best caregiver she could ever have. She will be deeply missed.

A private family service will be held at a later date. In DeeDee’s  memory, donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or Telemiracle.
