David Knezacek passed away peacefully December 5, 2025 at the Esterhazy Centennial Care Home shortly after his 82nd birthday.
Dave was born in Esterhazy on November 8, 1943. He was one of seven children born to William and Emma Knezacek. Dave lived his whole life in the Zeneta/Esterhazy area.
Dave grew up with a love for working with his hands and at the young age of 15, he started doing carpentry work. Over the span of six decades, he had built, renovated and repaired many houses and buildings in Esterhazy and surrounding area.
Dave also had a love for farming, which he did for many years along side his brother Laddie. Dave always enjoyed wildlife and nature. In his younger years he was an avid trapper.
In 1981, Dave met Merle and they married a year later. Dave and Merle loved to dance and play cards. They spent many Saturday nights cutting up the dance floor at the Rainbow Hall. They were always up for playing cards with many friends and could play a mean game of Canasta.
In 1989, Dave and Merle purchased an acreage west of Yarbo. There they spent the next 28 years enjoying and tending to their yard. Dave loved to tell of the deer and wildlife that regularly wandered through the yard.
In 2017 they moved to Esterhazy into the Elk’s Lodge. Dave still continued to enjoy carpentry, taking drives in the country and having coffee with his friends.
Dave is predeceased by his parents William and Emma, siblings Laddie, Emily, Albin and Marlene.
Left to celebrate Dave’s life; his wife Merle; her 4 children Nancy (Keith), Melinda (Dean), Cory (Jennifer), Sherry (Robb); sisters Bev and Willie; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Esterhazy Centennial Care Home for the care that Dave received while he was there.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Dave’s life.
