David Brown Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of David C. Brown, July 13, 2025 at 78 years of age at the Yorkton Regional Hospital.

David had an early start with farming in Tantallon as a teenager. He also earned his living as a miner in different parts of Canada such as Sudbury Ontario, Stewart BC as well as Esterhazy and Rocanville Sask. While working underground as a mechanic in Rocanville at Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan he also had his farm. Growing many different crops over the years and also raising cattle. He had quite a soft spot for his cows, checking on them every evening. Rolling down the windows of his truck to play them country music while he walked amongst the herd, scratching them behind the ears and along their backs.

David also enjoyed hunting and had some of his hunts mounted. Fishing was another pass time he enjoyed. He had a site for many years at Lake of the Prairie.

David suffered a stroke at the age of 55 and was unable to return to work at PCS. During that time he also made the difficult decision to sell his cattle and most of his land. Keeping the home acreage he grew up on. At that time of his life he made big changes in his lifestyle to improve his health. He changed his diet and walked 3 miles every morning for more than 20 years. During these years he was still quite active, focusing more on his garden and the acreage. He planted many trees around the property. His youngest sister Joanne also got him started with Monarch conservation. He planted milkweed on his property and the Monarchs started coming.

David was predeceased by his parents William and Margaret Brown, as well as his brother Gordon Brown and his brother in law Bryan Perrin and niece Brenda Sarazin.

Surviving are his wife, Lesia (Elsie) Brown and two children. Daughter, Stephanie Scott and son, Michael Brown. Son in law Doug Scott. His ten grandchildren, Eric, Kylar, Michael, Curtis, Drew, Andrisa, Ethan, Deagan, Mirrah and Jeanneva. His two sisters Jean Perrin and Joanne Brown, brothers in law Murray Ogilvie, Boris Horula and Bill Zawlunk, sisters in law Sandra Brown, Violet LaBelle, Pat Horula and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Esterhazy Golden Jets, September 6th 2025 from 1-3 p.m. Private interment will be at Valley View Cemetery, Tantallon Sask.
