It is with profound sadness and immense love that the family of Darlene Marie Dutka announces her passing on January 19, 2026, at Yorkton Regional Hospital. Born on November 14, 1945, in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Darlene lived a life defined by devotion to her family, quiet strength, and a heart that gave endlessly to others.
Darlene was raised by her grandparents and attended school in Zeneta, Saskatchewan. These early years shaped the kind, humble, and hardworking woman she became. In 1964, she married her lifelong partner and best friend, Ronald Dutka, and together they began building a life rooted in love, resilience, and shared purpose. They made their first home on the Dutka family farm and, in 1977, settled on their forever farm north of Esterhazy—where Darlene created a home filled with warmth, care, and unconditional love. Together, Ron and Darlene were blessed with three children—Denise, Kelly, and Craig.
Darlene found great peace and happiness in the outdoors. Her gardens were a reflection of her spirit—beautiful, abundant, and lovingly tended from sunrise to sunset. She took immense pride in growing vegetables and flowers, always ensuring there was plenty to share. Her generosity knew no bounds, and family and friends were often sent home with armfuls of produce and full hearts. When she wasn’t working in the garden, Darlene could be found in the kitchen, preparing home-cooked meals that brought people together. No one ever left her home hungry, and everyone left feeling cared for.
She had a deep love for animals, especially her cats. Darlene cared tenderly for strays, building warm shelters and offering food and comfort, while her indoor cats were spoiled without limit. To Darlene, every animal was deserving of love and care.
Darlene was an essential part of the grain and cattle farm, working tirelessly alongside Ron. Her dedication, perseverance, and steady presence were the foundation of the farm’s success. Though she never sought recognition, her strength and commitment were deeply admired and appreciated.
Above all else, Darlene’s greatest joy was her family. She was a proud and devoted grandmother who cherished every moment with her grandchildren. Sleepovers at Grandma’s, attending games, matches, recitals, and competitions were moments she treasured. Whether at the hockey rink, volleyball court, dance recital, or gymnastics performance, Darlene was always there—cheering loudly, smiling proudly, and loving unconditionally.
Darlene will be remembered as a gentle, kind, and humble woman whose love ran deep and whose presence brought comfort to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and family that will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
She is lovingly survived by her husband Ronald Dutka; her children Denise (Tony) Kweens, Kelly (Shirley) Dutka, and Craig (Krista) Dutka; her grandchildren Chantelle, Bryce (Jennifer), Alanis (Coen Rink), and Jovi; and her cherished great-grandchildren Claire and Brynn. She also leaves to mourn her chosen son, Tom Harris.
Darlene was predeceased by her in-laws Charlie (Elizabeth Helmeczi) Dutka; sister-in-law Loretta (Bud) Frechette; her beloved grandparents Mabel and John Wesley Nixon; brothers Clayton (Elaine), Westly (Evelyn), and Raymond; and sisters Fern, Ruby, Pearl, Beatrice, and Hazel.
Darlene will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her family. Her gentle spirit, unconditional love, and selfless heart will remain with us always.
