Clara Toth Obituary

Clara Francis Toth passed away peacefully at Centennial Special Care Home, Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, on November 27, 2021. Clara was the oldest daughter of George and Anna Knourek (Hudacek) born on September 26, 1926 in the Kolin District of Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. She attended Kolin School until grade 8 and then completed her grade eight, nine, ten, and eleven by correspondence as was common of that time.

Clara worked for a time at Bober’s Store in Esterhazy and worked for various families in the Kolin District during harvest times. Her joy was attending dances at all of the local country schools. It was during this time she met her future husband James Toth of Stockholm. They were united in marriage on November 12, 1946 at the Roman Catholic Church in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. They then ventured to Sudbury, Ontario for work. She was in awe of the fashions in the store windows because it always took time  before the style of the day showed up in Saskatchewan.

She returned to the prairies, and it was then she and her husband bought a farm in the Stockholm District, and this is where she remained for the next 36 years. Upon retirement, Esterhazy became her new home and continued to be until her passing. Clara enjoyed the company of friends and family. She hosted many a get together throughout her years with her wonderful ability of cooking and baking. She always greeted everyone with her beautiful smile. Clara was kind in heart, devoutly faithful, and strong in spirit. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Clara was predeceased by her husband James Toth in May 1993; her siblings Edwin 1977, Garfield 2014, Bernice 2014, and Kathleen 2020; her parents Anna 1996 and George 1996.

She is survived by her nephews, James (Janet) Brodie, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Ross (Christine) Harvie, Red Deer, Alberta; Colin Harvie, Blackfalds, AB; nieces Judy (Ron) Jones, Cochrane, AB; Lorea Lemon, Kelowna, BC; Lorenda (Craig) Haubrich, Sturgis, SK; Kathy (Allan) Brodie Boen, Sturgis, SK; Colleen (Ed) Vella, Ancaster, Ontario; her great nieces and nephews, as well as numerous friends and cousins.
