It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christina Suzie Skoloda. Christina was born on the family farm in Stockholm, Saskatchewan on May 22, 1938 to parents John and Julia Skoloda. She grew up in the Stockholm District, attending the Scandia School.
At age 20, Christina went to work at the Esterhazy Saint Anthony’s Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She worked there for over 25 years, and beyond, receiving her 25th anniversary pin. She was a kind person, and friendly to everybody with her cheerfulness and ready smile for anyone.
After retiring, she enjoyed extensive reading, going out to cafes and other dining areas, and enjoyed riding in the vehicle with her brother Cyril. They enjoyed travelling to Carlyle, Moose Mountains, Kenosee Lake area, and the Moosehead Inn, also enjoying Round Lake and the surrounding valley.
Christina was a devout Catholic, very spiritual, and was a regular attendee. She was a member of the choir for multiple years as well as a member of the Catholic Women’s League.
Christina had many friends and acquaintances that said she was an angel, remembering their days working together at the hospital. The patients highly praised her.
She is survived by her brother Cyril; her god-daughter Chandra Hamilton of Vernon, B.C., her mother Connie of Big River, Saskatchewan, and the Joseph families in Manitoba. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Julia.
Cyril thanks everyone who came to the service.
