Brenda Elaine Findlay, née Tochor, born on July 11, 1962, in Esterhazy, SK, to Bert and Marie Tochor, was an inspiration of strength from her earliest days. As the eldest of four children, she embodied leadership and resilience, traits that defined her throughout her life.
On the family farm, Brenda learned the values of hard work and a profound respect for nature, principles she carried with her always. After graduating, she embarked on a career at Mosaic, where she met Rick, the love of her life. Together, they celebrated their union with a wedding in 1989, and were blessed with two children, Ashton and Eric.
At Mosaic, Brenda broke new ground as one of the first women to work underground. Her tenacity and capability won the respect of her colleagues, earning her a revered position amongst “the old boys” at work. Whether in her initial role underground or later in a clerical capacity, Brenda was known for going above and beyond, often becoming a trusted advisor and helper to her coworkers.
Brenda's life outside work was marked by a multitude of passions. An avid gardener, she created a backyard haven, inspired by her mother, aunts, and her grandmother Catherine Pollock, from whom she inherited a love for plants.
Brenda loved cooking and was always experimenting with new recipes, treating family and friends to her delicious creations. Her love for camping and fishing was unparalleled, approaching each adventure with enthusiasm and meticulous planning. Known for her "bloody plans," these excursions often evolved into spontaneous journeys, embracing the thrill of the unknown.
Brenda's infectious zest for exploration extended to her grandchildren, whom she adored. She shared countless adventures with them, instilling in them a sense of joy and wonder. In her home, the sound of little feet and calls of 'Grandma' were common, along with the unwritten rule, 'No spanking allowed in Grandma's House.' She also shared her love for gardening and cooking with them, pursuits that brought her immense pleasure and peace.
Brenda's role as the heart of her family was unmistakable. A devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother, she was the epitome of strength and love. Her unwavering support and deep bonds with her family were the essence of her being.
