Blanche Provick passed away Friday, 16 April 2021 at the age of 90 years.
Predeceased by her loving husband Mac (2002) and son Ray (2016) as well as her parents Frank Lomenda and Bertha Raymond, plus siblings Cathleen, Delma, Marjorie, Clifford (in infancy), Irene, Frank, Bertha, David, Tom, Stanley, Donald and Arthur.
Survived by son Wayne (Sharon Melhoff), grandsons Brad and Trevor, great grandchildren Jayden, Breckin, Danielle, Ahnia and Anders; and daughter Jan (Terri Hayes), granddaughter Cathie and great grandson Alex; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family who all share fond memories of her.
Blanche Anne Lomenda was born and raised on the family farm SW of Esterhazy and later worked at Clements store in town. She loved to dance and met Mac Provick (a member of the band “The Swiss Boys”) at one of the local dances. The two got married on 20 June 1951 and farmed in the Hazel Cliffe area while raising Wayne, Ray and Jan. She always had a large garden, was a skilled seamstress who could make clothing for the children and enjoyed crocheting blankets and other gifts for friends and family.
Starting in the late 1970’s, Mac and Blanche (and later son Ray) owned and operated Junction Relics Antique store in Churchbridge right into the 2000’s. They had moved off the farm to Churchbridge in 1984 to be closer to the store and were active members of that community. Blanche liked to have a pretty flower bed out front and continued to have a garden (although it was much smaller than out at the farm). She enjoyed getting together with friends to play cards on a regular basis and was an avid bowler for several years.
Blanche had a huge smile, a kind and generous heart, and a huge reserve of wit that she would deploy when you least expected it. Her fun-loving nature made her a joy to be near and all who knew her were blessed. We retain our cherished memories, but she will forever be missed.
The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the staff of Maple Street Manor and Centennial Special Care Home, for taking such good care of her for the last 4 years.
