Betty was born on March 23rd, 1933 to John Fedorski and Rose Swejda on a farm near Esterhazy, SK. Her only sister Marion was born 3 years later. They grew up in Esterhazy with their mother. Betty attended school, played with the neighbourhood children, and spent time helping her mother around the house.
She later met and married Frank Hegedus in 1953. They welcomed two sons, Craig in 1956, and Myles in 1959. They moved to a farm near Atwater, SK. On the farm Betty, helped to raise turkeys and provide meals for the hired help. She also spent lots of time in the summer gardening and growing beautiful flowers. In 1990 Frank and Betty built their retirement home in Esterhazy where they lived happily for many years. During retirement, Betty was very involved with the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) and various bible study groups. She also ensured that those in the care home who wanted to attend church services were able to. After 55 years of marriage, Frank passed away on June 17th, 2008.
In July 2015, Betty settled into Sumner Place. Here she made many friends and loved to spend her time reading and playing cards. On October 2018, Betty moved into the Centennial Care Home where she spent her remaining years. Here she enjoyed taking part in the planned activities and games. She loved attending church services in the chapel. She was very appreciative of the care she received and often commented on the good meals.
Betty wasn’t afraid to ask loudly for anything, but was very thankful and grateful for what she had. Her biggest blessing was her family. She would genuinely want to know how everyone was doing, what was happening in their life and would offer prayer for all. She was never shy to state her opinion. Betty loved the Lord and would complete each conversation with saying “God Bless You!”
Betty leaves to mourn her sons Craig and Myles (Melvina); six grandchildren, Adam (Mandy), Megan (Joseph), Kurt, Carissa (Joey), Leah (Nathan), and Clayton (Katelynn); sister Marion (Ken Drozda); nieces Colette and Valerie (Vaughn); sister in law Esther Hegedus; 13 great grand children; Ryker, Paxton, Aden, Torrie, Baylee, Jack, Eliana, Reecia, Anya, Tyson, Natalie, Ruth, and Kasper. As well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Frank, her mother Rose, brothers-in law Casper and Albert Hegedus; sisters-in law Ethel Roberts, Millie LaBrosse, and Terry; daughter-in law Joanne Hegedus.
Betty will be greatly missed, but her memories will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who loved her, especially her family.
