Bernadette Cyhla Obituary

Bernadette Cyhla, daughter of John and Bertha (Betz) Hemauer, was born March 26, 1932, on the Hemauer farm by Langenburg, SK.  She attended Landshutt School after which she entered the work force sewing jeans in a factory in Winnipeg and babysitting relatives.

In 1954, Bernadette met Laddie Cyhla at a housewarming party.  At Christmas the following year they got engaged and on June 27, 1956, they were married at the Landshutt Catholic Church by Father Albers.  They resided on the Cyhla homestead which is still actively farmed by the family today.

Laddie and Bernie were blessed with four children: (1) Donella (Bruce) Cmoc and their children Kristy Cmoc (Al Varjassy), Jayton, Kendra and Shane, Mandy (Tyson) Maier and their daughter Georgia, Jody (Aaron) MacDonald and their daughter Hayden (2) Linda Cyhla (Vern Balysky) and their children Allison Cyhla (Cody Poppenheim) and their daughters Jaicee and Jersey and Amber (Riley) Eiffert and their children Hasley and Brody (3) Judy (Dwight) Leppington and their children Dustin (Brooklynn) Leppington and their twins Ayva and Liam and Ashley Leppington (Skylar Baillie) and their son Levi (4) Randy (Holly) Cyhla and their children Carter (Brooklyn) Cyhla and Hunter Cyhla.

Bernadette enjoyed being a Homemaker. She loved gardening, canning, baking, wood working and crafting.  She enjoyed sewing and many people now own her famous jean blankets and bags.  She would always have baking on her cupboard for a snack for anyone who would stop in.   She would be out on her riding lawnmower and waving for help when she was stuck or asking for a tow on her quad when she HAD to go out in the winter to feed her cats. (No matter the age, you never learn).  Bernadette worked hard helping raise many animals such as chickens, ducks, geese, pigs and cattle.  She had a soft spot for the dogs and gave them way too many treats.

As she got older, dialysis became a part of her life for nine years.

Bernadette was predeceased by her husband Laddie, parents John and Bertha, her sister Mary, her brothers Robert, Leo, Allan and Dennis, her sister-in-law Alberta, her mother and father-in-law Vladimir and Anna Cyhla, sister-in-law Rose Magee and brother-in-law Ted Magee.  She is survived by her brother James Hemauer(Mary Hamm), sisters-in-law Katie Hemauer, Angie Hemauer, Caroline Hemauer, Irene Hemauer and many nieces and nephews.

Due to failing health, she entered the Yorkton District Nursing Home on March 28,  2023, where she spent countless hours doing search-a-word, making snuffle mats and playing bingo.  She loved the visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought her so much joy.  Bernadette was strong in her faith and we know she will be in good hands. God called her home and she passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2024.  She lived a full life and will be sadly missed but remembered as being caring, loving and proud of her family and their accomplishments.
