Arleen Annie Gray, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend passed away peacefully at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home in Saskatoon on July 12, 2022 at the age of 77.
Arleen was born in Russell, Manitoba to Ludwig and Annie (Bessel) Brenner on March 8, 1945. Arleen lived on the farm and took her first three years of schooling at Liscard. Arleen completed her high school in Churchbridge in 1962. Arleen attended Balfour Technical School in Regina and began working in the accounting department in Sask Telecommunications and later transferred to the commercial department in Yorkton. In 1965 Arleen married Lloyd Reitenbach and they had two children. Following the divorce, Arleen worked for a chartered accountant while attending night school to earn a degree in Municipal Administration. In 1983 Arleen married Donald Gray and they had two children.
Mom loved to garden, travel, cross-stitch, quilt, sew, knit, crochet, play piano, play cribbage and bridge and spend time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting spoons and salt & pepper shakers during her travels. Mom received her Prairie Horticulture Certificate from the University of Saskatchewan. Mom received her Grade 6 in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music at the age of 45. Mom was self-published with six books detailing the lives of five young girls. Mom suffered with undiagnosed diabetes which resulted in the amputation of her left leg below the knee. After Donald passed away Mom moved to a private care facility in Saskatoon. After complications from a surgery, she was transferred to the Saskatoon Convalescent Home for her last two years.
Arleen is predeceased by her parents Ludwig and Annie Brenner, her parents-in-law Trennick and Norah Gray, husband Donald, brothers and sisters-in-law Walter (Helen), Leonard (Sonja), Howard (Jacqueline), Larry (Mae), Willard and Arnold, step-sons John Gray, Donald (Jim) Gray, David Gray and Douglas Gray.
Arleen leaves to mourn her son Shannon (Kim) Reitenbach, daughter Cynthia Reitenbach, son Scott, and son Jason (Lorraine) Gray; granddaughter Amanda Reitenbach; grandsons Hayden (Kylie) Reitenbach, Everett Gray and Colten Gray; step-grandson Kyle (Kayla) Bengtson; step-granddaughter Peyton (Kendall) Bengtson; sister Lorraine (Bernie) Welke; sisters-in-law Jean Brenner and Verna Brenner; step-son Robert (Lorraine) Gray, step-daughters Jane (Dwayne) Ervin and Susan (Iain) Paton, and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
The family extends a sincere thank you to the staff at Saskatoon Convalescent Home in Saskatoon for their care and kindness to Arleen and her family throughout her stay.
